Our sales training for teams is built for people who are brilliant at what they do, and deeply uncomfortable with the idea of selling. Consultants, engineers, analysts, specialists, frontline teams. People who create real value, then hold back from the conversation that would create more.
At Understood, we design and deliver sales training for teams that starts by reframing what selling is. Not persuasion. Not technique. A problem-solving, value-creating set of skills that most of your people already have in another form.
We tailor every session to your clients, your market and your language. The practice scenarios are written around situations your people will recognise, because we interview them before we design anything.
Selling isn’t something you do to someone. It’s something you do with them.
The barrier is almost never capability. It is identity. People do not see selling as something a person like them does, so no amount of technique training moves them. That belief is where we start.
Our approach is practical, thoughtful and grounded in real client situations. People engage with it because it does not ask them to become someone else.

For consultants, engineers, analysts and specialists who hold client relationships but have never been taught to grow them. It suits professional services firms, data and technology consultancies, and any business where development sits with one or two people and needs to sit with more.

We design sessions for consultants and technical specialists, frontline and customer-facing teams, managers and team leaders, or mixed groups. The full programme is six hours of content, delivered as one day in person or three two-hour modules online. Cohorts are usually around twelve in person and eight online.
Before we design anything, we interview the people who will attend and speak to the leaders who set the strategy. That is what makes the scenarios real. Afterwards, we hand the action plans to your own coaches, so the learning has somewhere to go.
In addition, shorter introductory sessions are available where you want to test the appetite first.
Selling well is an emotional intelligence skill before it is a commercial one. Where it helps, we combine sales training with our EQ and personality work, so people understand their own selling style and where it serves them less well. For example, high agreeableness can mean over-committing to keep a client happy. High conscientiousness can mean burying a client in detail they did not ask for. Neither is a flaw. Both are worth knowing about.
We have delivered this programme for organisations including Snap Analytics and Benefit Cosmetics, in the UK and internationally.
Consultative selling means understanding a client’s situation properly before you propose anything. That’s to say, the skill is in the questions and the listening, not the pitch. As a result, it suits complex services, long relationships and anyone who finds traditional sales techniques uncomfortable.
Yes, and that is who most of it is designed for. Consultants, engineers, analysts and specialists hold the client relationships in many businesses, but have rarely been trained to grow them. The programme starts from the skills they already have.
The full programme is six hours of content. That runs as one day in person, or three two-hour modules online. Shorter introductory and refresher sessions are also available.
Yes. In practice, sessions run online, in person or as part of a blended programme. We regularly deliver across multiple sites and countries, flexing the content for local context.
Yes. We interview your people first and write the role-play scenarios around your real client situations. Because of this, the content reflects your values and your language rather than a generic sales model.
Yes. In fact, we run a session for managers, team leaders and development coaches on reinforcing the skills after the training, and we can train your own people to deliver the programme internally.
Traditional sales training usually teaches technique to people who already identify as salespeople. Ours starts with the discomfort, reframes selling as problem-solving, and builds on the strengths your people already use in their technical work.
